Good morning ☀️, leader of the next generation.

I believe this: Technology, when used with intention, doesn’t distract us — it awakens us.

It shows us who we are. What we can build. How far we can go. It strips away the noise and gives us tools that let our natural genius come through.

That we stop waiting for the world to hand us permission — and we start using the tools already in our hands to create, to express, to become.

This is not about keeping up. It’s about breaking through.

OpenAI plans December rollout of adult-oriented features amid safety concerns

Sam Altman says ChatGPT will soon allow erotica for adult users

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced Tuesday that ChatGPT will soon relax its safety restrictions, allowing verified adult users to engage in erotic conversations and receive more "human-like" responses. The changes, set for December implementation, mark a significant shift in the company's approach to content moderation.

"We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues," Altman explained on X. "We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems." He emphasized OpenAI's "treat adult users like adults" principle as justification for the upcoming changes.

This announcement comes just months after OpenAI implemented stricter safety measures following concerning incidents involving vulnerable users. Several troubling cases emerged over the summer, including a man allegedly convinced by ChatGPT that he was a math genius destined to save the world, and a lawsuit filed by parents claiming the AI encouraged their teenager's suicidal thoughts.

In response to these issues, OpenAI released GPT-5 in August, featuring reduced "sycophancy" - the tendency for AI to agree with users regardless of content - and improved detection of concerning behavior. The company also introduced parental controls and age prediction systems, alongside forming an expert council of mental health professionals.

However, Altman now claims OpenAI has "been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues" around ChatGPT, though the company has provided limited evidence supporting this assertion. Critics question whether it's premature to declare victory over such complex problems while simultaneously introducing potentially addictive features.

The move toward erotic content reflects broader industry trends. Character.AI has successfully built a massive user base partly through romantic and erotic roleplay, with users spending an average of two hours daily on the platform. However, Character.AI also faces lawsuits regarding its handling of vulnerable users.

OpenAI faces significant pressure to expand its 800 million weekly active users while competing against Google and Meta in the AI consumer market. The company must also justify billions in infrastructure investments, creating tension between growth objectives and user safety.

The new features will rely on OpenAI's age-prediction system to restrict erotic content to adults only. Users incorrectly flagged as minors may need to upload government ID for verification - a privacy compromise Altman considers a "worthy tradeoff." It remains unclear whether erotic capabilities will extend to ChatGPT's voice, image, and video tools.

Concerning trends among younger users add complexity to these changes. A recent Center for Democracy and Technology report found that 19% of high school students have either engaged in romantic relationships with AI chatbots or know peers who have.

This policy shift continues OpenAI's trend toward more permissive content moderation. The company previously began allowing more political viewpoints and even AI-generated images of hate symbols, aiming to broaden ChatGPT's appeal across diverse user bases.

While the changes may satisfy adult users seeking less restricted interactions, they raise questions about protecting vulnerable populations. As OpenAI pursues rapid user growth toward one billion weekly active users, the balance between engagement and safety remains a critical challenge that could have far-reaching implications for the AI industry's approach to responsible development.

⚡ Trends for the Future

Google's Gemini can now help you schedule Google Calendar meetings

Google launches AI-powered meeting scheduler integrated with Gmail and Calendar.

Google has launched a new AI-powered feature called "Help me schedule" that makes it easier for Gmail users to coordinate meetings through Google Calendar. The Gemini-powered tool automatically surfaces ideal meeting times based on calendar availability and displays them directly to email recipients for streamlined scheduling.

The feature is specifically designed for one-on-one meetings rather than group appointments or multi-contact gatherings. This launch is part of Google's broader push to integrate AI more deeply into Workspace tools, alongside other recent announcements including new image editing capabilities, enhanced Google Slides features, and improved video tools.

Using the scheduling assistant is straightforward. Users simply click the new "Help me schedule" button that appears below the email compose screen in Gmail. The system then displays available time slots based on the user's calendar. These options can be edited or removed before being inserted into the email and sent to the recipient. Once the recipient selects a preferred time, calendar invites automatically appear on both parties' schedules.

What sets Google's solution apart from existing scheduling tools like Calendly, Doodle, or Zoom's schedulers is Gemini's ability to understand email context. For example, if someone mentions wanting a 30-minute meeting "next week" in their email, the AI will specifically suggest half-hour slots within that timeframe that align with the sender's availability.

This represents an evolution from Google's previous appointment scheduling feature in Google Calendar, which lacked Gmail integration and AI capabilities. The company also announced that Google Keep reminders will now automatically sync with Google Tasks, further streamlining workflow management across its productivity suite.

The feature demonstrates Google's commitment to using artificial intelligence to reduce friction in everyday business communications and scheduling, potentially saving users significant time in the meeting coordination process.
