Nvidia reports $46.7B revenue with 56% growth, driven by AI demand.
Nvidia reports record sales as the AI boom continues

Nvidia delivered another powerhouse earnings report Wednesday, cementing its position as the world's most valuable company with $46.7 billion in revenue—a remarkable 56% jump from the same quarter last year. The tech giant's financial success continues to be driven by the artificial intelligence boom, with data center operations leading the charge.
The company's net income surged to $26.4 billion in the second quarter, representing a 59% increase year-over-year. This impressive growth underscores how AI companies' insatiable appetite for cutting-edge graphics processing units (GPUs) shows no signs of slowing down.
Data center sales dominated Nvidia's performance, generating $41.1 billion in revenue for the quarter. The star of the show was Nvidia's newest chip generation, Blackwell, which alone accounted for $27 billion in sales. CEO Jensen Huang didn't hold back his enthusiasm, declaring that "Blackwell is the AI platform the world has been waiting for. The AI race is on, and Blackwell is the platform at its center."
Huang's bullish outlook extends well into the future, projecting $3 to 4 trillion in AI infrastructure spending by decade's end. "$3 to 4 trillion is fairly sensible for the next five years," he confidently told analysts during the earnings call.
Nvidia highlighted its integral role in OpenAI's recent launch of open-source gpt-oss models, showcasing the impressive capability of processing "1.5 million tokens per second on a single Nvidia Blackwell GB200 NVL72 rack-scale system." This demonstration reinforces Nvidia's position as the backbone of AI development.
However, the earnings report also exposed ongoing challenges in the Chinese market. Despite developing the H20 chip specifically for Chinese customers, Nvidia reported zero sales to Chinese buyers in the past quarter. Interestingly, the company did manage to sell $650 million worth of H20 chips to customers outside China.
The Chinese market situation reflects broader geopolitical complexities. While the United States has historically restricted advanced GPU sales to China, the landscape shifted under President Trump's administration. Nvidia can now sell chips to China, but only after paying a 15% export tax to the U.S. Treasury—an arrangement that legal scholars have criticized as potentially unconstitutional.
CFO Colette Kress explained the lack of Chinese shipments during the earnings call, citing uncertainty around this informal arrangement. "While a select number of our China-based customers have received licenses over the past few weeks," Kress noted, "we have not shipped any H20 devices based on those licenses." The arrangement hasn't been formally codified into federal regulation, creating hesitation around implementation.
Adding to these challenges, the Chinese government has actively discouraged local businesses from using Nvidia chips, reportedly prompting the company to halt H20 chip production earlier this month. This policy stance creates additional headwinds for Nvidia's expansion in one of the world's largest technology markets.
Looking ahead, Nvidia projects $54 billion in revenue for the third quarter, demonstrating continued confidence in market demand. However, the company's guidance notably excludes any potential H20 shipments to China, with projections that could shift 2% in either direction.
Despite the Chinese market complications, Nvidia's overall trajectory remains extraordinarily positive. The company's ability to capitalize on the AI revolution has transformed it from a gaming-focused graphics card manufacturer into the essential infrastructure provider for the modern AI economy.
The earnings results reinforce Nvidia's dominant position in the AI chip market, where demand continues to outstrip supply. As companies worldwide race to implement AI solutions, Nvidia's advanced semiconductors remain the critical foundation enabling this technological transformation.
With Blackwell chips driving record sales and future AI infrastructure spending projected to reach trillions, Nvidia appears well-positioned to maintain its leadership in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape, even as geopolitical challenges create uncertainty in key international markets.

Assort Health nabs $50M to automate patient phone calls, sources say

AI startup raises $50M to automate healthcare patient communications.
Assort Health, a startup leveraging AI to automate patient communication for specialty healthcare practices, has secured approximately $50 million in a Series B funding round at a $750 million valuation, according to three sources familiar with the deal. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and comes just four months after the company's $22 million Series A.
The company's AI voice agents handle high-volume, repetitive tasks such as scheduling, cancellations, and answering frequently asked questions that would typically be managed by front desk staff. This allows human employees to focus on more complex or sensitive patient interactions.
Assort Health joins a growing wave of AI-powered healthcare communication startups attracting significant investment. Last week, EliseAI raised $250 million in a Series E led by Andreessen Horowitz at a $2.2 billion valuation. Hello Patient, another AI assistant for medical offices, secured $20 million in Series A funding earlier this month at a $100 million valuation.
The healthcare industry is increasingly embracing AI solutions, with medical scribes from companies like Abridge and Ambience Healthcare gaining traction. Investors are now betting that patient communication represents the next major opportunity for AI implementation.
Assort Health primarily serves small and medium specialty care offices that often experience long wait times. Fast AI agent responses may help these practices retain patients who might otherwise switch to competing providers.
Despite having an annual recurring revenue of just over $3 million, the company is experiencing rapid growth according to sources. Initially focused on orthopedic and physical care offices, Assort Health has recently expanded into other specialties including OB-GYN, dermatology, and dentistry.
The startup was founded two years ago by Jon Wang, a former medical student who pivoted to entrepreneurship, and Jeff Liu, a former Facebook engineer. Neither Lightspeed Venture Partners nor Assort Health responded to requests for comment.
