Notion launches developer platform to connect AI agents and workflows
Notion just turned its workspace into a hub for AI agents
Notion is transforming from a simple note-taking app into an AI orchestration platform. The productivity software company unveiled its new Developer Platform during a Wednesday livestream, introducing tools that allow teams to build automated workflows, connect external AI agents, and sync data from multiple sources—all within their Notion workspace.
The announcement marks a significant evolution for Notion, positioning it as a central hub where human teams and AI agents can collaborate across various tools and databases. CEO Ivan Zhao acknowledged this strategic shift, stating, "It's true that, historically, Notion hasn't been the most developer-focused platform. But things are changing."
Since launching Custom Agents in February—AI assistants that handle repetitive tasks like answering FAQs and compiling status updates—Notion users have created over 1 million agents. However, these agents faced limitations: they couldn't access external data or execute custom logic, and third-party agents couldn't integrate with Notion workspaces.
Introducing Workers and Custom Code
The centerpiece of Notion's new platform is Workers, a cloud-based environment that lets teams deploy custom code in secure sandboxes. This feature enables users to sync external data, build custom tools, and set up webhooks without relying on external infrastructure. Teams no longer need third-party automation platforms or custom scripts running on separate systems.
Notion emphasizes that users don't need to write code themselves—AI coding agents can handle the development work. The Workers feature will use the same credit system as Custom Agents but remains free through August for experimentation.
Database Synchronization
The platform's database sync feature, powered by Workers, can pull data from any API-enabled database. This means teams can access information from Salesforce, Zendesk, Postgres, and other sources directly within their Notion databases while keeping data current and synchronized.
Zhao explained that this capability allows users to "use your Notion database as a sheer canvas to power both your workflows and your agents," creating a unified workspace for all business operations.
External Agent Integration
Another major addition enables direct communication with external AI agents. Users can chat with, assign tasks to, and track progress of third-party agents as if they were native Notion agents. Launch partners include Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Decagon, with plans to expand this roster.
For companies with proprietary AI systems, Notion provides an External Agent API, allowing integration of custom-built internal agents designed for specific business needs.
Workers can also create agent tools with custom logic for situations where connecting through the Model Context Protocol (MCP)—a standard that lets AI tools access external data and services—isn't sufficient.
Developer Access and Strategic Implications
Teams interact with the Developer Platform through the Notion CLI, a command-line tool available on Business and Enterprise plans. This represents Notion's transformation from a simple application to a programmable platform, setting up competition with workflow automation platforms.
The move aligns with broader industry trends as AI companies move beyond chatbots toward agentic tools that can perform actions across multiple software platforms. As businesses increasingly seek to automate knowledge work and build internal AI systems, platforms that unify agents, custom code, and live data become critical infrastructure rather than just productivity apps.
Zhao summarized the vision: "Any data, any tool, any agent—that's the big picture for the Notion Developer Platform." This ambitious scope positions Notion at the center of the emerging agentic AI ecosystem, where human-AI collaboration becomes seamless across organizational tools and workflows.

Meta introduces private AI chat feature for sensitive conversations
WhatsApp adds an incognito mode in Meta AI chats
Meta announced Wednesday it's introducing incognito mode for its AI chatbot on WhatsApp and the standalone Meta AI app. The feature enables private conversations processed in a secure environment that remain invisible to others.
Users can activate incognito sessions through a new icon in one-on-one Meta AI chats. These conversations aren't saved and automatically disappear when chats close, apps are shut, or phones are locked. The rollout begins over the next few months, addressing users' needs for privacy when discussing sensitive topics like health, finances, or personal advice with AI assistants.

⚡ Trends for the Future
Anthropic now has more business customers than OpenAI, according to Ramp data
Anthropic surpasses OpenAI in business customers for the first time.
Anthropic has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing OpenAI in verified business customers for the first time, according to the latest AI Index from fintech firm Ramp. The survey reveals that 34.4% of participating businesses now pay for Anthropic services, compared to 32.3% for OpenAI, marking Anthropic's first time in the top position.
The data, compiled from Ramp's clients' expense information, represents more than 50,000 companies, providing a substantial sample size despite not being a perfect representation of the entire marketplace. Ramp economist Ara Kharazian noted that Anthropic has already been leading among high-adoption sectors like finance, technology, and professional services, while OpenAI maintains advantages in other areas, though this gap has been narrowing recently.
This trend extends beyond Ramp's data, with similar patterns visible across the industry. OpenRouter's leaderboard, which samples different users, shows that OpenAI last ranked above Anthropic in December 2025, confirming the broader shift in market dynamics.
The past year has been transformative for Anthropic, with their business adoption rate climbing dramatically from just 9% in May 2025 to the current 34.4% figure. This represents a remarkable 26% increase over 12 months. During the same period, OpenAI's market share declined by 1%, while overall AI product adoption across businesses grew by 9%.
Kharazian attributes Anthropic's success to their strategic approach of initially focusing on technical customers and their specific needs, excelling in execution, and then gradually expanding to broader markets through tools like Cowork. However, he remains skeptical about whether this advantage will be sustainable long-term, suggesting that the competitive landscape continues to evolve rapidly in the AI sector.
