After moving his family from Siberia to the United States in 2014 for a smart speaker startup that was ultimately rendered obsolete by Amazon's Echo, Crewkov found unexpected inspiration in his daughters' struggle to learn English.

"I just realized that we could probably create an AI character that would do the same things if lessons are scripted," Crewkov recalls. His daughter became their first tester and user, turning a family's challenge into a technological solution that now helps millions.

What the team initially thought would be a six-month development process stretched into years. They faced formidable technical challenges: training AI to understand not just human speech, but children's voices speaking broken English with diverse accents, from Brazilian Portuguese to Arabic.

The regulatory landscape added another layer of complexity. As a product designed for children, Buddy.ai had to navigate strict privacy laws like COPPA across multiple countries. Step 1: Create a Discord Account (if you don’t have one)

  1. Go to discord.com and click "Login" or "Register".

  2. Enter your email, username, and password to create a free account.

  3. Verify your email address to complete the registration.

Step 2: Join the MidJourney Discord Server

  1. Once logged into Discord, visit the MidJourney invite link: https://discord.gg/midjourney.

  2. Click "Accept Invite" to join the MidJourney server.

  3. You’ll be added to the MidJourney Discord, where you can start generating images.

Step 3: Upload Your Photo (With Your Friends)to Discord

  1. Go to a “newbie” channel (e.g., #newbies-1) where you can enter commands.

  2. Drag and drop your photo (or your friends’ photo) into the chat box.

  3. When the image appears in the chat, right-click on it and select "Copy Link".

    • You’ll use this link in your prompt.

Step 3: Start Generating Images

  1. On the MidJourney server, look for a "newbie" or "beginner" channel (e.g., #newbies-1).

  2. Type your command in the chat:

    • The command starts with /imagine followed by your text prompt.

  3. Example prompt: 

/imagine me and my friends sitting on the beach in Bali at sunset, enjoying drinks and smiling. Realistic, vibrant colors, happy mood. (paste the link)

Step 5: Wait for the AI to Create Your Image

  • After you type your prompt, MidJourney will process it.

  • The bot will provide four versions of the image in about 60 seconds.

Step 6: Refine the Image

  1. Choose the image you like by clicking "U1", "U2", "U3", or "U4" to upscale your preferred option.

  2. If you'd like to try variations, click "V1", "V2", "V3", or "V4" to get more similar options.

Step 7: Download and Share Your Image

  1. Right-click the final image and choose "Save Image" to download it.

  2. Share your masterpiece with friends or post it on social media!
