Google rolls out Gemini Deep Think AI, a reasoning model that tests multiple ideas in parallel

OpenAI Agent

Google DeepMind has launched Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, its most sophisticated AI reasoning model that represents a major leap forward in artificial intelligence capabilities. Starting Friday, this groundbreaking multi-agent system will be available to subscribers of Google's premium $250-per-month Ultra subscription through the Gemini app.

First introduced at Google I/O 2025 in May, Gemini 2.5 Deep Think marks Google's inaugural publicly available multi-agent model. Unlike traditional AI systems that rely on a single agent, this innovative approach deploys multiple AI agents simultaneously to tackle complex problems from different angles. While this parallel processing requires significantly more computational resources, it consistently delivers superior results by exploring and considering multiple ideas before selecting the optimal answer.

The model's capabilities have already been proven on the world stage. Google utilized a specialized version of Gemini 2.5 Deep Think to achieve a gold medal at this year's International Math Olympiad (IMO), demonstrating its exceptional problem-solving abilities in one of the most challenging academic competitions.

Alongside the consumer release, Google is providing the IMO-winning model to select mathematicians and academics. This research-focused version operates on an entirely different timescale, taking hours rather than seconds or minutes to reason through complex problems. Google hopes this extended reasoning capability will enhance academic research efforts and provide valuable feedback for improving multi-agent systems in scholarly applications.

Google emphasizes that the current Gemini 2.5 Deep Think represents substantial improvements over the version announced at I/O. The company has developed novel reinforcement learning techniques that help the model make more effective use of its reasoning pathways, resulting in more accurate and comprehensive responses.

"Deep Think can help people tackle problems that require creativity, strategic planning and making improvements step-by-step," Google explained in their announcement. The model excels in areas requiring complex reasoning and iterative problem-solving approaches.

Benchmark performance data showcases Gemini 2.5 Deep Think's superiority over competitors. On Humanity's Last Exam (HLE), a comprehensive test featuring thousands of crowdsourced questions across mathematics, humanities, and science, Google's model achieved a 34.8% score without additional tools. This significantly outperformed xAI's Grok 4 at 25.4% and OpenAI's o3 at 20.3%.

In coding challenges, the model demonstrated even more impressive results. On LiveCodeBench 6, which tests competitive programming skills, Gemini 2.5 Deep Think scored 87.6%, substantially ahead of Grok 4's 79% and OpenAI's o3's 72%. These results establish Google's model as a leader in technical problem-solving capabilities.

The system seamlessly integrates with various tools including code execution and Google Search, enabling it to produce much longer, more detailed responses than conventional AI models. In Google's internal testing, the model generated more comprehensive and visually appealing web development solutions compared to competitors, suggesting significant potential for creative and technical applications.

The multi-agent approach appears to be an emerging trend across leading AI laboratories. Elon Musk's xAI recently launched Grok 4 Heavy, their own multi-agent system claiming industry-leading benchmark performance. OpenAI researcher Noam Brown revealed that their unreleased IMO gold medal-winning model was also multi-agent based. Similarly, Anthropic's Research agent utilizes multi-agent architecture to generate thorough research briefs.

However, this advanced capability comes with significant costs. Multi-agent systems require substantially more computational resources than traditional models, making them expensive to operate. Consequently, tech companies are restricting access to their most premium subscription tiers, as both xAI and Google have done with their respective offerings.

Google claims Gemini 2.5 Deep Think could significantly aid researchers and "potentially accelerate the path to discovery" across various fields. The model's ability to engage in extended reasoning sessions and explore multiple solution pathways simultaneously makes it particularly valuable for complex research challenges.

Looking ahead, Google plans to expand access to Gemini 2.5 Deep Think through the Gemini API in the coming weeks, initially targeting select developers and enterprise testers. This controlled rollout will help Google understand how different user groups might leverage the multi-agent system's capabilities and identify areas for further improvement.

The launch of Gemini 2.5 Deep Think represents a significant milestone in AI development, showcasing how multi-agent systems can tackle increasingly complex problems that require sophisticated reasoning, creativity, and strategic planning capabilities.

OpenAI raises $8.3 billion at $300 billion valuation ahead of schedule.

OpenAI reportedly raises $8.3B at $300B valuation

OpenAI Agent

OpenAI has secured $8.3 billion in funding at a $300 billion valuation, months ahead of schedule. The oversubscribed round is part of the company's goal to raise $40 billion this year. Dragoneer Investment Group led with a $2.8 billion investment, joined by new investors including Blackstone, TPG, and T. Rowe Price. OpenAI now generates $13 billion in annualized revenue with 700 million weekly ChatGPT users, projecting $20 billion by year-end. Early investors received smaller allocations as OpenAI prioritized new strategic backers for its transition to full for-profit status.

⚡ Trends for the Future

Apple might be building its own AI ‘answer engine’

Apple forms new team to develop ChatGPT-like answer engine application.

Apple has established a new internal team focused on developing a ChatGPT-like application, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The team, which operates under the name Answers, Knowledge, and Information, is dedicated to creating an advanced answer engine capable of responding to user queries by drawing information from across the internet.

This new system could potentially function as a standalone application or be integrated into existing Apple products to enhance search capabilities within Siri, Safari, and other services. The development represents Apple's broader push into artificial intelligence and conversational technology.

Apple is actively recruiting talent for this initiative, posting job openings specifically targeting candidates with expertise in search algorithms and engine development. This hiring strategy indicates the company's serious commitment to building competitive AI-powered search capabilities.

The timing of this development is particularly significant given Apple's current AI challenges. While the company has already incorporated ChatGPT integration into Siri, plans for a more comprehensive, personalized AI update to the voice assistant have faced multiple delays. These setbacks have highlighted Apple's need to accelerate its AI development efforts to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving market.

Additionally, Apple's search strategy may be influenced by external legal pressures. The company's lucrative search partnership with Google could require modification following Google's recent antitrust defeat, potentially creating additional motivation for Apple to develop its own search solutions.

This new answer engine project represents Apple's attempt to reduce dependence on third-party AI services while creating more integrated, native AI experiences across its ecosystem. The success of this initiative could significantly impact how users interact with Apple devices and services in the future.

Where Are You Holding Back— On Purpose?

Every smart operator has something they’re intentionally avoiding.

Not because they’re lazy — but because it’s risky, unknown, or just... a bit *uncomfortable*.

So what’s that thing for you?

No fluff. Just momentum.

The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race. It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn't compete, and would be superseded.

Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking was a renowned British theoretical physicist and cosmologist who made groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of black holes and the nature of space and time. He held the prestigious Lucasian Chair of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge for 30 years, the same position once held by Isaac Newton. Despite being diagnosed with ALS at age 21 and given only a few years to live, Hawking defied medical expectations and continued his scientific work for over 50 years until his death in 2018. He was also known for his ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to the general public through books like 'A Brief History of Time' and his advocacy for scientific literacy.
