What’s your #1 financial headache as a business owner?
Stockholm startup wants AI video interviews to replace traditional resumes entirely.
Fika Jobs raises $4M to build a video-first hiring platform where AI agents interview candidates
The hiring process has long been broken. Candidates pour hours into applications and cover letters, only to vanish into a black hole of silence. Generative AI has made things worse, with employers leaning on automated screening tools to manage a flood of submissions. Stockholm-based startup Fika Jobs believes there is a better way — and it just raised $4 million in pre-seed funding to prove it.
The company is building a video-first hiring platform that blends AI-powered interviews with short-form video profiles. Think LinkedIn meets TikTok. Rather than relying on resumes alone, candidates complete AI-driven interviews designed to highlight their personality, communication style, and real potential.
The process is straightforward. Job seekers connect their LinkedIn profile, and Fika's AI analyzes their background and generates personalized interview questions. Candidates then sit a roughly 10-minute video interview with an AI agent currently powered by Google's Gemini models. Afterward, the platform automatically edits responses into short video clips and organizes them into a living profile that employers can browse and revisit over time — no need to apply separately for every role.
The idea was born from personal experience. Brothers and co-founders Jakob Dubois (CEO) and Alexander Dubois (CTO) nearly passed on a standout candidate while recruiting for their previous startup, social app Gaff, simply because his resume failed to impress on paper. Once they spoke with him, his drive and ambition were immediately clear. That moment convinced them that resumes routinely miss what matters most.
What sets Fika apart from competitors like Alex, Maki, and Mercor is its candidate-first approach. While most rivals focus on helping employers screen and match applicants more efficiently, Fika is building a pool of pre-interviewed candidates that employers can actively discover. It flips the traditional model on its head.
This could be particularly valuable for early-career professionals and candidates from non-traditional backgrounds, whose potential rarely shines through a standard resume. By giving these candidates a chance to speak for themselves early in the process, Fika could open doors that might otherwise stay shut.
That said, video profiles come with real risks. When employers can see a candidate's appearance, age, race, gender, and accent before reviewing their qualifications, the potential for bias and discrimination increases significantly. It is a meaningful trade-off, and one the platform will need to address carefully as it scales.
Fika is free for job seekers. Employers pay nothing upfront, with Fika collecting 10% of a candidate's first-year salary upon a successful hire. The company points out this undercuts the 20% to 30% fees typically charged by traditional recruiters — a compelling pitch for cost-conscious hiring managers.
The platform is opening early access to candidates this week, with a full public launch planned for autumn. Fika will initially focus on the Swedish market before expanding internationally. The team is small for now but expects to grow to around 10 employees by year's end.
Employer interest appears strong. More than 100 companies are on the waitlist, and over 50 have already tested the platform, including Plenty Labs, SICS.ai, Kognity, and Rebtel. The $4 million round was led by Luminar Ventures, with participation from Alliance VC and King co-founders Sebastian Knutsson and Riccardo Zacconi — the duo behind the wildly popular mobile game Candy Crush.
The funding will go toward continued platform development, team growth, and preparations for the broader launch later this year. Whether Fika can navigate the bias challenges while delivering on its promise of a fairer, more human hiring process remains to be seen — but the ambition is clear.

⚡ Trends for the Future
Kiwibit's AI-powered bird feeder is my new backyard buddy
The Kiwibit Bird Feeder 2 uses AI to identify birds and track backyard wildlife visits.
Earlier this month, I started testing the Kiwibit Bird Feeder 2 4K AI Camera, and it has quickly become my favorite backyard gadget. Setup is simple — the feeder supports multiple mounting options including a pole, window ledge, or tree. It features dual seed compartments for easy refilling and cleaning, and a solar panel on top means you never have to stress about dead batteries.
On the hardware side, the feeder supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, cloud storage, built-in two-way audio with a microphone and speaker, and a 130-degree wide-angle lens. Once installed, I connected it to the Kiwibit companion app, which sends real-time notifications whenever a bird visits, lets you watch recordings, and tracks all activity over time.
A few weeks in, the real fun kicked off. My phone would buzz with alerts throughout the day, and I found myself genuinely excited to check in. Even on rainy days, visitors showed up — including a stunning northern cardinal I now look forward to seeing every morning. So far, the feeder has recorded six different species, and I catch myself showing the videos to anyone who will watch, as if these birds were my own pets.
The app uses Kiwibit's proprietary algorithm to identify over 10,000 bird species, from blue jays to mourning doves. The Activity tab tracks visits, recorded videos, and total species observed, while the Birds tab pulls detailed species information from Wikipedia. One recurring highlight: a "nuisance animal detected" alert that fires off every time squirrels raid the seed — which happens constantly.
The one minor drawback is that the visit-counting isn't always accurate. If a bird lingers in frame without moving much, the AI may log it as multiple visits. Pricing ranges from $179.99 to $249.99 depending on the model, with discounts currently available through Amazon Prime Day or directly from Kiwibit. Minor quirks aside, this smart feeder is a genuinely delightful way to connect with nature — just expect plenty of squirrel cameos too.
