The company, which specializes in AI applications for insurance and mobility, also has patents pending in the United States and Europe for the same technology.
Unlike traditional driver scoring systems that evaluate isolated risk factors such as hard braking and speeding, the CARD system takes a more holistic approach. It simultaneously analyzes multiple risk factors including driver drowsiness, collision warnings, seatbelt usage, phone use, and environmental conditions like road quality and weather.
The system's clustering algorithm correlates compounding risk factors—such as speeding on wet roads or drowsy driving during late hours—to generate real-time risk assessments. According to drivebuddyAI CEO Nisarg Pandya, the comprehensive approach has demonstrated significant real-world impact.
"Our experience with thousands of drivers generating over a billion kilometers of driving data has proven the need for an integrated approach that unifies multiple data streams into a contextual algorithm. The net result of our comprehensive system approach has delivered up to 70% reduction in accidents," Pandya stated.
The patent announcement coincides with another significant achievement for the company. DrivebuddyAI recently became the first system to receive validation from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) under India's AIS 184 standard. This standard is expected to become mandatory for all six million commercial vehicles in India by 2026, positioning Roadzen's technology as the only fully compliant driver safety system currently available for automotive manufacturers.
