Amazon Unveils Vulcan, a Tactile Robot That "Feels" What It Handles

Vulcan uses force sensors to adapt its grip in real time
Amazon has launched Vulcan, its most advanced warehouse robot to date—one that can “feel” products using tactile sensors. This capability marks a breakthrough in warehouse automation by enabling robots to adjust their grip based on an item’s shape, size, and fragility.
A Dual-Arm System With Vision and Touch
Vulcan features two robotic arms: one reorganizes inventory inside storage bins, while the other—equipped with a camera and suction cup—picks items with tactile precision. It adapts in real time, much like a human worker, to handle objects more intelligently than traditional robotic systems.
AI-Powered and Always Learning
Trained on massive physical datasets, Vulcan can currently handle about 75% of Amazon's product inventory. It’s also designed to self-improve over time—learning from each task to become more efficient and capable with every order processed.
Already in Action
Vulcan is operational in warehouses in Spokane, WA and Hamburg, Germany, where it has helped fulfill over 500,000 customer orders. These deployments are both proving grounds and key components of Amazon’s next-gen fulfillment infrastructure.
Part of a Larger Robotics Arsenal
Vulcan joins Amazon’s robust robotics lineup, which includes mobile shelf movers, palletizing arms, and sortation bots. Unlike its predecessors, Vulcan targets the hardest challenge: adaptive item picking.
Will It Replace Human Jobs?
Amazon insists Vulcan is meant to complement, not replace, human workers—handling repetitive or ergonomically risky tasks while creating new tech-related roles. Critics remain skeptical, especially as automation reduces reliance on manual labor in fulfillment centers.
The Future of Tactile Robotics
Vulcan represents a broader shift in robotics toward human-like dexterity. With tactile sensing and adaptive learning, it could unlock a future where robots manage delicate inventory—from glassware to electronics—with greater care and independence.

ServiceNow acquires Data.World months after snatching up Moveworks

ServiceNow Acquires Data.World
ServiceNow has announced its acquisition of Data.World, a cloud-native data catalog and governance platform, marking its second AI-related acquisition this year.
Founded in 2015, Austin-based Data.World had raised over $130 million in venture funding and was last valued at $350 million in 2022. While financial terms weren't disclosed, ServiceNow stated that the acquisition will help customers deploy AI at scale by making their data "AI-ready."
Gaurav Rewari, ServiceNow's SVP of data analytics, explained that Data.World was chosen for its ability to help enterprises organize and search through their data, which supports AI agents and automation.
This follows ServiceNow's $2.85 billion acquisition of Moveworks in March, which develops enterprise automation and AI tools. Both acquisitions align with ServiceNow's strategy of building and buying capabilities to transition to agentic AI, as the company aims to differentiate itself in enterprise automation.
Why it matters: ServiceNow’s buying spree signals a bold push into the future of enterprise AI—where automation isn’t just a feature, but a foundation.
⚡ Automate the Entire Engineering Lifecycle with AI

Factory AI is an enterprise-grade software development platform that uses AI-powered “Droids” to automate everything from code generation and testing to documentation and incident resolution. It brings code, tickets, and docs into one secure workspace, streamlining engineering operations.
Trusted by enterprises that need both speed and security, Factory AI helps teams ship faster, resolve issues quicker, and reduce costs—while staying compliant with SOC 2 and ISO 42001.

Google Rolls Out AI Tools to Protect Chrome Users Against Scams

Google Chrome AI Scam Protection
The details:
Google has introduced new AI-powered protections in Chrome, using its on-device Gemini Nano model to strengthen scam detection. This upgrade focuses on shielding users from deceptive websites and tech support scams in real time.
Initially rolling out for desktop users with Enhanced Protection enabled, Gemini Nano helps assess complex web pages on-device, allowing Chrome to detect both known and novel scam tactics before they cause harm.
On Android, Google is also enhancing spam detection for website notifications. When a notification appears suspicious, users will now receive a warning and options to unsubscribe or proceed. The system learns and adapts over time, providing greater control and customization.
Google’s broader AI defenses have already shown results, including a 20x improvement in blocking fraudulent websites and an 80% drop in fake airline support scams. These tools mark a shift from reactive to proactive AI-based protection.
What makes this crucial: As online scams grow more sophisticated, Google’s new Chrome defenses show how AI can proactively shield users by analyzing threats in real time and reducing reliance on user vigilance or known attack signatures.
