Good morning ☀️, leader of the next generation.
Sometimes we give technology too much credit or too much blame.
The truth is, it’s a tool. How we use it is what matters.
Used with purpose, it helps us see more clearly, build faster, and express ourselves in new ways.
It’s not about chasing trends. It’s about creating something real.

Apple tightens app data sharing rules for AI services
Apple's new App Review Guidelines clamp down on apps sharing personal data with 'third-party AI'
Apple has introduced stringent new App Review Guidelines that specifically target how apps handle personal data when working with third-party AI services. The updated rules require developers to explicitly disclose and obtain user permission before sharing any personal information with AI companies or systems.
This policy update comes at a strategic time, as Apple prepares to launch its own enhanced AI-powered Siri assistant in 2026. The upgraded digital assistant will reportedly enable users to control apps through voice commands and will partially rely on Google's Gemini technology, according to recent industry reports.
The most significant change involves rule 5.1.2(i) of Apple's guidelines. While the original rule already prohibited apps from using or sharing personal data without user consent—primarily to comply with privacy regulations like GDPR and California's Consumer Privacy Act—the revised version now includes specific language about AI services.
The new guideline states: "You must clearly disclose where personal data will be shared with third parties, including with third-party AI, and obtain explicit permission before doing so." This addition represents Apple's first direct acknowledgment of AI companies as entities requiring special compliance measures.
What makes this update particularly noteworthy is Apple's deliberate focus on AI technologies. By calling out AI companies specifically, the tech giant is sending a clear message about data privacy in an era where artificial intelligence applications are rapidly expanding across mobile platforms.
The implications for app developers could be substantial. Any apps utilizing AI systems for user data collection, processing, or personalization features will need to ensure transparent disclosure and explicit user consent. This includes applications that might use AI to enhance user experiences, provide recommendations, or offer customized functionality.
However, the enforcement scope remains somewhat unclear. The broad term "AI" encompasses various technologies beyond large language models, including machine learning algorithms and other automated systems. This ambiguity could affect how strictly Apple implements the new requirements and which specific technologies fall under scrutiny.
The timing of this policy update appears strategic, positioning Apple to protect user privacy while simultaneously preparing for its own AI initiatives. By restricting how other apps share data with third-party AI services, Apple may be creating a more controlled environment for its upcoming Siri enhancements.
These AI-focused changes are part of a broader set of App Review Guidelines revisions released Thursday. Other updates include support for Apple's new Mini Apps Program, adjustments to creator app policies, modifications to loan app regulations, and the addition of cryptocurrency exchanges to the list of highly regulated services.
For developers, these changes mean implementing more robust disclosure mechanisms and consent processes when working with AI technologies. Apps that fail to comply with the updated guidelines face potential removal from the App Store, making adherence crucial for maintaining market access.
As the AI landscape continues evolving rapidly, Apple's proactive approach to data privacy regulations demonstrates its commitment to user protection while establishing clearer boundaries for AI integration in mobile applications. This move reinforces Apple's position as a privacy-focused platform while potentially giving its own AI services a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Google augments AI shopping with conversational search, agentic checkout and an AI that calls stores for you
Google launches AI shopping features including conversational search and automated checkout.
Google is transforming online shopping with a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools launching just in time for the holiday season. The company aims to eliminate the tedious aspects of digital commerce while preserving the enjoyable elements like browsing and discovery.
The centerpiece of these updates is conversational shopping through Google's AI Mode, which allows users to ask natural language questions about products. Powered by Google's Shopping Graph containing over 50 billion product listings, the system provides tailored responses with images, prices, reviews, and real-time inventory information. For example, searching for "cozy sweaters in autumn colors" will display visual options, while product comparisons might appear as structured tables.
Google's Gemini app is also receiving enhanced shopping capabilities, offering more detailed responses to shopping queries for U.S. users. The feature provides comprehensive product suggestions rather than simple text responses.
Perhaps most innovative is the introduction of agentic checkout, which allows Google to make purchases on your behalf. Available through merchants like Wayfair, Chewy, and select Shopify stores, users can track item prices and authorize Google to complete purchases when prices drop to their desired range. The system uses Google Pay and requires explicit user confirmation for all transactions.
Another groundbreaking feature leverages Google's Duplex technology to call local stores on behalf of customers. The AI can inquire about product availability, pricing, and promotions across categories like toys, health and beauty, and electronics. Store owners can opt out of receiving these calls, and the AI clearly identifies itself when making contact.
These features represent Google's strategy to streamline the shopping experience by handling routine tasks while maintaining the human elements that make shopping enjoyable. The rollout is currently focused on U.S. users, with sponsored listings appearing in AI Mode but not yet in the Gemini mobile app.
