Good morning ☀️, leader of the next generation.

Sometimes we give technology too much credit or too much blame.

The truth is, it’s a tool. How we use it is what matters.

Used with purpose, it helps us see more clearly, build faster, and express ourselves in new ways.

It’s not about chasing trends. It’s about creating something real.

Apple reportedly negotiating $1B yearly deal for Google AI integration

Apple nears deal to pay Google $1B annually to power new Siri, report says

In a surprising strategic shift, Apple is reportedly close to finalizing a massive agreement with Google that would see the Cupertino-based company pay approximately $1 billion annually for access to a customized version of Google's advanced Gemini AI model. This partnership aims to significantly enhance Siri's capabilities as part of a comprehensive overhaul of Apple's voice assistant.

The potential deal represents a notable departure from Apple's traditionally self-reliant approach to technology development. Rather than relying solely on internal resources, Apple appears willing to leverage external AI expertise as an interim solution while the company develops its own more sophisticated artificial intelligence capabilities.

The proposed Google AI model would bring unprecedented computational power to Siri, featuring an impressive 1.2 trillion parameters. To put this massive scale into perspective, Apple's current cloud-based Apple Intelligence system operates with just 150 billion parameters. This means Google's custom model would deliver roughly eight times the complexity and processing capability of Apple's existing AI infrastructure.

This dramatic increase in computational sophistication could enable Siri to handle far more nuanced conversations, provide more accurate responses, and support a broader range of advanced features that users have long expected from modern AI assistants. The enhanced capabilities would likely bring Siri closer to competing with other leading AI assistants in the market.

Apple's decision to partner with Google wasn't made hastily. According to the Bloomberg report, the iPhone manufacturer conducted extensive evaluations of AI models from multiple prominent companies earlier this year. The comprehensive testing process included examining offerings from OpenAI, known for ChatGPT, and Anthropic, the creator of Claude AI.

After thorough evaluation of these competing AI solutions, Apple ultimately determined that Google's Gemini model best suited their specific requirements for Siri's transformation. This selection process suggests that Google's AI technology demonstrated superior performance or compatibility with Apple's existing systems and future roadmap.

The timeline for this ambitious Siri upgrade points to a spring 2025 launch, which would coincide with Apple's typical product release cycles. However, given the complexity of integrating such advanced AI capabilities and the ongoing development process, company officials acknowledge that plans could potentially shift as the project progresses toward completion.

This partnership highlights the increasingly collaborative nature of the AI industry, where even traditionally competitive companies recognize the benefits of strategic cooperation. For Google, the deal represents a significant revenue stream and expanded influence in Apple's ecosystem. For Apple, it provides immediate access to cutting-edge AI capabilities while buying time to develop proprietary solutions.

The arrangement appears designed as a temporary bridge rather than a permanent dependency. Apple's long-term strategy likely involves using insights gained from implementing Google's technology to accelerate development of its own AI models, eventually reducing reliance on external partners while maintaining competitive capabilities in the rapidly evolving voice assistant market.

Where to find high-intent holiday shoppers

Let’s be real: most brands are targeting the same people this holiday season. “Shoppers 25–54 interested in gifts.” Sound familiar? That's why CPMs spike and conversion rates tank.

Speedeon’s Holiday Audience Guide breaks down the specific digital audience segments that actually perform—from early-bird deal hunters actively comparing prices to last-minute panic buyers with high purchase intent. These aren't demographic guesses.

And our behavioral audiences are built on actual shopping signals and real-world data —the same approach we use for clients like FanDuel and HelloFresh."

You'll get the exact audiences, when to deploy them, which platforms work best, and what kind of performance to expect.

Pinterest CEO highlights open source AI for cost reduction

Pinterest CEO touts open source AI: 'tremendous performance' with reduced costs

Pinterest CEO Bill Ready announced during an earnings call that open source AI models are delivering "tremendous performance" for visual AI applications while significantly reducing costs. The company uses AI for personalized recommendations, multimodal search, and its new Pinterest Assistant feature.

Despite predicting weaker holiday revenue due to Trump's tariffs affecting home furnishings, Ready emphasized that fine-tuned open source models provide comparable performance to proprietary alternatives at "orders of magnitude reduction in cost," enabling Pinterest to expand AI capabilities affordably.

⚡ Trends for the Future

Former Meta employees launch Stream, a smart ring that takes voice notes and controls music

Ex-Meta employees create voice-controlled smart ring for discrete note-taking.

Two former Meta employees have launched Sandbar, a startup creating the Stream smart ring designed as "a mouse for voice" that enables discrete note-taking, AI assistance, and music control. The device joins a growing market of voice-based hardware including offerings from Plaud, Friend, and Amazon's Bee.

CEO Mina Fahmi, who previously worked at Kernel and Magic Leap, and CTO Kirak Hong, formerly of Google and CTRL-Labs, met while developing neural interfaces at Meta. Fahmi's inspiration came from wanting to capture ideas during walks and commutes without the interruption of pulling out a phone or speaking aloud into earbuds.

Worn on the dominant hand's index finger, Stream features microphones and a touchpad. The microphone activates only when users press and hold the touchpad, ensuring privacy. In demonstrations, the device successfully transcribed whispers through its companion iOS app, which includes an AI chatbot for conversational note-taking and organization.

The ring provides haptic feedback for quiet operation and doubles as a media controller for playing, pausing, and adjusting music volume. Users can wear headphones for private AI conversations in crowded spaces, while the personalization layer makes the assistant's voice similar to the user's own.

Stream launches for preorder Wednesday at $249 for silver and $299 for gold, with shipping planned for next summer. A Pro subscription costs $10 monthly after a three-month free trial, offering unlimited chats and notes. Sandbar emphasizes user data control with encryption and plans to support exports to apps like Notion.

The company has raised $13 million from True Ventures, Upfront Ventures, and Betaworks. With fierce competition in voice-AI hardware and mixed results from competitors like Humane and Rabbit, Sandbar must prove its ring format offers genuine advantages over existing pendants, pins, and wristbands in the evolving AI hardware market.
