Apple brings Apple Intelligence with iOS 18.1 dev beta, but there are a lot of limitations
Apple has introduced Apple Intelligence in the iOS 18.1 developer beta, initially announced at the Worldwide Developer Conference. However, the feature rollout is notably restricted. Currently, only users with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and devices with M1 chips who have set their language to U.S. English can access the beta features. Additionally, the device region must be set to the U.S. to participate.
Within the settings app, under a new menu labeled "Apple Intelligence & Siri," users can join a waitlist to use the features. Notifications will inform users when the features are ready, but downloading necessary models may delay access, and not all functionalities will be immediately available.
New features include a revamped animation for Siri, which users can activate via text prompts by double-tapping the bottom bar. Apple also introduces writing tools to proofread, rewrite, or reformat text, providing options to adjust tone or transform text into lists or tables. The Mail app now offers email summarizations and prioritizes important emails at the top of the inbox, supplemented by smart reply options. Additionally, a new Focus Mode uses AI to minimize interruptions by filtering notifications. Read more
